Dallas, Texas and Hudson Oaks, Texas – Nokia and Nextlink Internet today announced they are building and upgrading networks with Citizens Broadband Radio Service (CBRS) spectrum and Nokia’s Airscale 4G LTE RAN. Nextlink’s CBRS networks will deliver high-bandwith internet to subscribers in the Central U.S. who previously have had limited or no access to broadband services.

Kansas Governer Laura Kelly signed Executive Order #20-67 on Thursday to establish the Office of Broadband Development and announced the distribution of nearly $50 million in Connectivity Emergency Response Grant (CERG) funds to underserved communities across Kansas. Nextlink Internet was one of the top investors in the Federal Communication Commission’s (FCC) recent auction of “CBRS” airwaves licenses, which will enable the company to more effectively deliver high-speed broadband and voice services to more subscribers in small towns and rural areas of 11 U.S. states: Colorado, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Nebraska, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas, and Wyoming.

Xtreamair’s footprint covers a large portion of western Iowa straddling U.S. Route 20, including parts of Woodbury, Ida, Sac, and Buena Vista counties. We will begin working immediately to upgrade and expand the Xtreamair network so that subscribers will be able to access download speeds of up to 100mb, and we are working to be finished by the end of 2020.”
