SkyWave is now Nextlink Internet

SkyWave’s Broadband internet service provider business was recently acquired by Nextlink Internet which is based in Hudson Oaks, Texas. Nextlink Internet is an experienced provider of high-speed internet and voice services to residential, business, institutional and government customers in mostly rural and small-town areas, using a mix of fixed wireless and fiber-optic network technologies. Nextlink’s roots are in Texas and Oklahoma, but the company has expanded into Kansas, Nebraska, Illinois and Iowa.

Nextlink has completed the upgrades to your area towers to be able to provide our new customers up to 25Mbps; however, we won’t stop there. We currently offer 100Mbps residential download speeds to many areas across our legacy coverage areas and we have a plethora of technological advancements that will further increase those speed capabilities to your home. We obtained additional licensing through various FCC auctions and simple advancements in Fixed-Wireless technology, fostering our rollout of LTE-Ready gear that allow us to not only achieve 100Mb but also eliminate Line of Sight obstacles. If you are in a difficult area for a line of sight connection to local towers due to trees or other obstructions, we’ll be able to offer speeds of 50Mbps to 100Mbps download speeds depending on the density of foliage or obstruction. You can learn more in these press releases here. The upside is we shouldn’t have many obstructions to get a quality signal to increase your speeds beyond what you have today.

Small Businesses, Commercial and large Enterprise businesses will also have options to access custom speed designs for Internet Access and or data transport with any speed below 1Gbps and over 10Gbps in select areas.

Will anything change about my bill or my service?
On April 1, 2021 your billing invoice will have the Nextlink header but your monthly rate will not change, your quality of service, your service charges, even your local customer service staff and technicians – all will remain the same.
How do I access my Account Portal?

You can access your account through our website at https://nextlink.app/. Please use your existing login credentials associated with your account.

Access to the online portal will enable you to:

  • View Account Status/Billing Activity
  • Manage Payments/Payment Methods
  • Make Updates to Contact Information

Does Nextlink Internet plan to make any changes to the SkyWave Network? When and where will any network upgrades or expansions occur?
Yes. One of the key drivers of Nextlink’s growth is its constant investment in its networks and focus on internet service quality. So yes, there will be upgrades in the local networks formerly owned by SkyWave, and we plan to bring service to surrounding communities that are currently unserved or underserved. However, it’s premature to be specific at this time about when and where those upgrades will occur.

Will my service be interrupted while upgrades are happening?
We do have some night maintenance work being scheduled Monday thru Friday from 1 am – 5 am. If online during those times you may experience an outage of service. We do try to keep this to a minimum, so the whole network will not be effected at the same time.

Higher speed plans up to 100 Mbps download speeds to your residence will be available in the coming months. Request to hold your place for speed plans – greater than 25Mbps – when your tower location has been upgraded (35Mb, 50Mb, 100Mb plans). When the tower is ready we will reach back out to you to confirm your requested speed upgrade.
