Frontier Cooperative has partnered with Nextlink Internet to bring quality internet services to surrounding communities.
Nextlink Internet and Frontier Cooperative is excited to announce plans to expand broadband internet access to residents and commercial business areas within a 5- to 10-mile radius of several of Frontier Coop’s locations. In collaboration with Microsoft, Land O’Lakes, Nextlink will install high-speed broadband technology to nearly 30 Frontier elevator facilities, improving access to broadband connectivity throughout the area. This effort to improve internet connectivity aims to directly benefit residents in these rural areas who currently lack adequate broadband service at home.
Not only is broadband becoming increasingly critical to daily life, but it also offers farmers the opportunity to engage in precision agriculture, increasing yields, improving productivity, and boosting profits. There is a lack of connectivity in rural America, this effort by Frontier, Nextlink, Microsoft and Land O’Lakes aims to address these gaps.
Over the course of the next 24 months, the following Frontier locations are tentatively scheduled to be installed: Garrison, Dwight, Bruno, Tarnov, Prague, Cook, Belgrade, Silver Creek, Cedar Bluffs, Palmyra, Manley, Elmwood, Murdock, Mynard West, Walton, Prairie Home, Ceresco, Adams, Syracuse, Syracuse Rail, Bennet, Waverly, and Martell.
Bellwood, Brainard, David City, Tecumseh North, and Tecumseh South – are available today!
Frontier Cooperative will make an effort to notify members of the respective communities in advance of when a facility’s technology will go live, with some facilities seeing go-live dates in the next 90 days.
This project is part of ongoing efforts by Land O’Lakes, Microsoft, and Nextlink to address the rural broadband gap across the United States. Frontier is part of the Land O’Lakes member network, and Nextlink is a Microsoft Airband Initiative partner. Through its Airband Initiative, Microsoft aims to extend broadband access to 3 million people who reside in unserved or underserved rural areas in the United States by partnering with internet service providers and others supporting connectivity solutions. Similarly, Land O’Lakes and its cooperative network are helping bridge the digital divide with awareness and advocacy through its American Connection Project.

Our agents will walk you through the process of selecting a plan that meets your needs. They will request members/employees send an email with a copy of the user’s information on a Frontier member statement, Employee badge, or other member documentation matching the address and/or name of member or employee.
What type of technology is being utilized? Is it "line of sight"?
Nextlink is equipping our towers with LTE equipment that makes “line of sight” not as critical as it is with a Fixed Wireless solution. With Fixed wireless, dense foliage would usually require a tower or mast that gets above tree canopies – NOT the case with LTE – it lets us connect thru dense foliage. You may not achieve a full 100Mbps if we are penetrating foliage of any kind. If this is the case our technician will likely recommend a 50 Mbps to 75Mbps plans where trees will diminish some of the signal for the higher 100Mbps plan. The technician will inform the consumer at time of install. LTE is a particular type of 5G that delivers the fastest internet experience.

Our knowledgeable agents will walk you through the process in identifying your needs and usage and will make a recommendation for a plan that will provide adequate service. Higher speed plans up to 100 Mbps download speeds to your residence will be available in the coming months. Request to hold your place for speed plans – greater than 25 Mbps – when your tower location has been upgraded (35Mb, 50Mb, 100Mb plans available). When the tower is ready we will reach back out to you to confirm your requested speed upgrade.
