Briggs and Barrett Project

On October 15, 2021 Nextlink was honored to partner with the Briggs and Barrett Project to fulfill their mission of providing peace of mind to families while spreading SIDS awareness in a supportive environment through education, tools, and resources in Norfolk, NE. We believe that our continued combined efforts enhance the communities we serve.

The Briggs and Barrett project partners with hospitals providing free educational posters on safe sleeping / SIDS awareness to OB offices, hospitals, daycares. They are currently partnered with Faith Regional Health Services, Columbus Community Hospital, Bryan Health, Providence Medical Center, Antelope Memorial Hospital, and Pender Community Hospital. Each infant born in these facilities is sent home with a Halo Sleep Swaddle and When Baby Sleeps book to promote safe sleep practices. “When Baby Sleeps” is educational book for all, written in a way that can be read to children.  The Halo Sleep Sack enables babies to be swaddled without using a blanket.

On December 15th, 2017, and January 18, 2018, the West and Uecker families’ lives were turned upside down. What they experienced is something no parent should ever go through. In the snap of a finger, their babies stopped breathing. After going through this horrible nightmare that was a reality, Melissa West and Allison Uecker became forever friends. With the help of each other, they are working to overcome this tragedy together. Through this agony and pain, they formed The Briggs and Barrett Project to help prevent and better educate parents on Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and Sudden Unexpected Infant Death (SUID). If something positive can come out of this nightmare, it’s this project. Briggs and Barrett’s missions were to do some amazing things, while not here on Earth, but from Heaven and through the project their moms created. These two moms and their families are committed to providing newborn parents with SIDS and SUID education, tools, and resources.

In addition to their partnerships, the Briggs and Barrett Project offers CPR training, helps to provide OWLET smart socks that uses established pulse-oximetry technology proven both safe and accurate, to monitor babies, they host memorial events, and a retreat! They sponsor a program called BB Crashers, selecting deserving families across the country to go and fill their registry and surprise them at their Baby Shower. The Briggs and Barrett project is a blessing and Nextlink is honored to partner with them!
