Nextlink Builds a Home for Wounded Veteran Corporal Cody Jones
Nextlink is running a fundraiser for Corporal Cody Jones. The funds we raise during this fundraiser will be utilized to build a home for a veteran in Ennis, Texas. Nextlink employees are soliciting pledges for the number of minutes they will exercise during the month of May and June.
Corporal Cody Jones, born January 29, 1991 in Covina, California. He moved to Grandview, Texas where he graduated from high school in May 2009. Cody joined the Marine Corps in June 2009. After completing basic training he had further training in Spain and Israel. Corporal Cody Jones was deployed to Afghanistan in November 2012. On December 16, 2012 while on an operation, a command detonated IED exploded beneath his M.R.A.P vehicle resulting in injuries that led to the amputation of his left leg, below the knee and right, mid-foot amputation. Cpl. Jones was then transferred to San Antonio Military Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas for rehabilitation. He is now attending Murray State College in Tishomingo, Oklahoma where he is studying to get his associates degree in gun-smithing. Murray State College (rated #2) is one of only four schools in the country to offer this. Cody’s goal is to one day own his own gun shop.
Cody’s awards/medals include the Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon, Good Conduct, Navy Unit Citation, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, and National Defense Medal.
Cody got married in March 2012 to Alexis Fullum. They now have one son, Corey, born on August 29, 2014. Cody and Alexis lost their first son to SIDS when he was six weeks old.
