Improve your In-Home WiFi Coverage to all your devices with our WiFi Extender Solution for $3.99 each per month.

Do you need to improve your in-home WiFi coverage to other parts of your home? Depending on the size and layout of your home, a wireless enabled router may provide all the WiFi coverage you’ll need, but for homes with dense materials including brick, concrete, plaster, and metal, you are likely to experience some level of signal degradation. Also, homes with multiple floors and many walls in-between rooms are more susceptible to signal loss. You will want your wireless router in as central of a location as possible to deliver a stronger signal to points farther away from the router. In most homes, however, the router’s location is limited to the room where the internet enters the house, which means relocating the router will likely require running Ethernet cable to the desired area. Range extenders (mesh points) provide a relatively easy way to deliver WiFi without having to run cables.  Your WiFi coverage can be tested at time of install and if needed you can add our WiFi Extender solution to boost your signal to other areas of your home for just $3.99 each per month (depending on the home layout, square footage, etc., your technician will recomend the quantity necessary to provide adequate home WiFi coverage).  Click here for more information

Hudson Oaks Current Coverage Footprint

*Currently Available in the Following Neighborhoods: Parker Oaks, Hidden Oaks, Diamond Oaks, Oykey Trail and Inspiration Trail areas.
NextLink provides a 30 day money back guarantee on the internet service plan that is paid for at the time of install. If you are not completely satisfied with the service within the first 30 days, your monthly internet fees will be refunded and the equipment will be uninstalled at no additional cost. The initial nstallation fee is non-refundable.  A one-time $350 Installation fee and your first month services charge is due at time of installation (You may pay out the installation fee over the term of the agreement). Existing Wireless NextLink customers pay a one-time $150 conversion.  Service is limited to the coverage area of NextLink’s FTTH Network in the areas identified within the ‘green routes’ on the map.  NextLink participates in Carrier Grade NAT, as does many Internet Service Providers (ISP). This means customers who use our service will not always have the same public IP address. The public IP address can and will change periodically. If customers participate in hosting online games, use security cameras, or conduct any port forwarding, they will be required to purchase a Static IP. This will provide them with a consistent IP address for the port forwarding to work properly. These Static IPs cost an additional $10 per month for a single /30 IP address and $20 per month for /29 IP block which will provide up to 4 usable IPs.  Distance limitations of wireless routers, number of devices OnNet, size and type of downloads and uploads all may affect speeds, especially while performing a speed-test with systems operating in the background. Speeds for downloads and uploads may vary due to these factors and others not listed here. Unless a custom installation is pre-determined, all installation service is limited to one router termination location within the home. Prices shown do not include any applicable taxes. NextLink pricing is subject to change. NextLink services are subject to the terms conditions you agreed to during scheduling.  Click here to review NextLink’s Terms and Conditions and other applicable acceptable use policies.

What To Expect At Time of Install

What Happens During Fiber Installation?  After submitting the request form above and confirming you are within the current FTTH Network, you will be placed on the schedule for installation.  During your installation appointment a NextLink Technician will install NextLink Fiber Internet Service equipment in your home and establish a connection with the Fiber Terminal in your neighborhood. Installation involves either aerial or underground work and depends on how previous utilities were delivered to your home.  Next the technician will connect your computer to the Fiber equipment in your home as well as guide you through the Fiber installation, account setup, and activation on your primary computer.  For service requiring Fiber to be laid from the utility easement to the home, a NextLink ground crew will follow within the same day or no later than 24-48 hours to bury all visible cable up to the termination point at the home. Someone over the age of 18 must be present during installation.

The installation time can vary depending upon equipment that may already be present but on average installation times are 2 to 4 hours in total. Note: The NextLink Technician may not arrive within the first hour of the appointment due to pre-work.

Drilling may be required and our skilled technician will work with you on the proper placement.  Landlord permission is required if you do not own the property.  Depending on whether the connection is coming from an overhead power or from an easement hand-hole in the yard, micro trenching or underground boring may occur to bury the fiber cabling.

General Steps of FTTH installation:

1). Outside The Home Work

  • The technician will be responsible for connecting fiber from the existing Nextlink Fiber Network.  Typically attaching to a telephone pole or in-ground access point and then connecting to the Optical Network Terminal (ONT Fiber Converter) that will be mounted by your current Power Meter.
  • Insert Fiber through duct to the home.
  • Test Fiber from the ONT to the connector at the network pole or underground access point.

2).  Inside The Home Work

  • The technician will discuss the room location for the router and associated wall jack.  The technician can also offer advice about positioning the devices to optimize your Wi-Fi signal throughout your home. (Think about where you might like the equipment installed, but stay open to suggestions from the Installation Specialist.)
  • A connection will be made from the Optical Network Terminal (ONT) to a  wall jack near the router placement.
  • The router will plug into the wall jack and be tested for connectivity.
  • If you did indicate you needed to extend your WiFi signal to other areas of the home, the technician will test current WiFi ranges and install extenders if other areas of the home require WiFi access (optional extender lease available upon homeowners request to install).
  • Technician will test the connection to ensure acceptable wired speeds have been achieved.

3).  Fiber Burial

  • Following an 811 dig test inspection of existing utility lines and services, a NextLink ground crew will follow the home installers to micro-trench the fiber from the easement through the yard and up to the ONT (Typically the same day but no later than 24-48 hours following step 1 & 2 outlined above).
  • Linese will be buried in accordance with your existing utility origination and termination points.
  • Please mark your sprinkler systems or any other low voltage electircal systems that are not part of your utility service from the city or county services.

Aerial or Underground Depends On Where Your Current Utilities Originate:

Aerial installation  With an aerial installation, NextLink will install the fiber optic line from a telephone/electric pole to the side of your home. Later, an ONT will be installed at the entry point of the home.

Underground installation With an underground installation, NextLink will contact the utility companies in your area to locate their services. Next a NextLink crew will dig a trench and bury the fiber from the Fiber Terminal in your neighborhood to the entry location at your home. This work is typically done 24-48 hours after your in-home installation appointment.  Note: Please mark your sprinkler system or any other obstacles that may be buried in your yard.

Optical Network Terminal (ONT)
The ONT converts the laser-generated signal that travels through NextLink fiber optic cables into an electronic signal that works with standard telephone and Internet equipment. The ONT is usually installed inside of your house or inside your apartment, generally in the area where any existing phone services enter your home.

Power Supply Unit
The Power Supply provides electricity to the ONT. Please ensure that you have a three-pronged electrical outlet that is not controlled by a switch available near where the ONT will be installed. The ONT requires very little power to operate. In fact, the amount of power needed is about what it would take to power a couple of night lights.

Battery Backup Unit Feature (Battery NOT included or maintained by NextLink):
The NextLink ONT includes a Battery Backup Unit (BBU) feature. You may utilize this feature by maintaining an active battery in the BBU. With an active battery, the BBU will provide backup power for your basic Fiber voice services, including Emergency 911 dialing, for up to 8 hours in the event of a commercial power failure (Click to read: Additional terms you need to know related to VoIP services used for 911 or Alarm services). You are responsible for purchasing and replacing the battery in the BBU. Much like you would need to replace the batteries in a portable radio from time to time. Please note that a damaged or leading battery may damage NextLink network equipment and should be removed and/or replaced immediately.
